Keeping with the theme of North Korea, the verb “to launch,” as in launch a rocket is:
1. 쏘다 : which can also be used in the expression 누가 쏠 차려여요 to mean “whose turn is it to pay?”
2. 짙다: thick or dark. A local expression goes “립스틱 짙게 바르고” to describe a woman who is out fishing for a man. There’s a similar one for men but can’t remember it at the moment. A colleague is convinced this is how the Hyundai guy up at Kaaesong got nabbed – tried to convince some pretty North Korean gal to defect. Which she didn’t do, reporting him instead to the authorities. So goes the theory at least.
3. 주의를 받고싶다: wanting attention, again as in North Korea and its rocket launch. Unfortunately, it seems like a
4. 해결하다: solution isn’t anywhere on the horizon.
5. 비권 주의자: Then again, maybe I’m just being a pessimist.
